iMET is a new stand-alone media technology summit, that will precede RHIFF, and will explore disruption in media and entertainment technology, as well as explore changes in the media landscape. iMET will explore technology disruption and innovation in the media, entertainment and sports industries (e.g E-Sports & broadcasting) – including VR/AR and interactive/immersive TV. iMET will also feature an exciting and innovative VR/AR experience, in association with a number of Ireland’s leading VR content providers and creators, including VR recreations of the Apollo 11 Lunar landing and WWII air-raids from Immersive VR Education and Simmotion.
This year, the theme will be ‘The Post-Truth World’ and will feature a screening of the documentary “Belling-Cat: Truth in a post-Truth world“, which will feature an extended panel discussion on the topics raised by this film, as we enter into another election cycle.

- Apollo 11 VR Experience – On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon. You can now experience this event by becoming Neil Armstrong and boarding the Saturn V Rocket which is still to this day the most powerful machine ever created by humans.
- 1943 – Berlin Blitz VR Experience – On the night of September 3, 1943, an Avro Lancaster bomber, dubbed F for Freddie, was bound for Berlin, 590 miles from London. Inside, its seven-man crew, which included a pilot, an engineer, a bomb aimer, also known as a bombardier, a radio operator and rear and mid gunners. What was out of the ordinary was this time there were two extra passengers on board: Welsh BBC reporter Wynford Vaughan-Thomas and his sound engineer, Reg Pidsley. Recorded from inside of the plane by Pidsley, Vaughan-Thomas reports an eye witness account of the mission, which was then broadcast on UK radio the following evening after their successful return. 1943: Berlin Blitz tells the story of the this historic event, with a mix of real archive from Vaughan-Thomas’ recordings and VR recreations of the event from aboard the Lancaster Bomber.
